Why It Won
Phoenix Rescue Mission’s website was stuck
in the past. Inconsistent design. Too much
copy. No mobile responsiveness. The old site was outdated—or worse, cold. “One example is the ‘Homelessness’ page,” said Eric Himes, account director for Grizzard Communications Group, who submitted the entry. “The previous page was full of vital and relevant information, but it read a bit like a term paper.”
The new website has it all. Clean, modern, responsive design. Big, clear calls to action. Easy navigation. More conversational, personal and authoritative content (including testimonials). The site also sports a redesigned Phoenix Rescue Mission logo, and a warmer, unified color palette that incorporates elements of the Southwest—native textile patterns, photos of real people, images of nature and more.
The redesign increased session times and web traffic, lowered bounce rates, and received enormous positive feedback from visitors. The statistical uptick and creative design flourishes combined to win over our judges.
