FedEx Corp. kicked off the FedEx St. Jude Classic in a major way. The Memphis, Tennessee-based company, which also renewed its title sponsorship of the tournament through 2017 last week, is donating $1 million to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The donation will be made in the name of Billy Horschel, who won the FedEx St. Jude Classic in 2014. FedEx has also committed to donating $1 million annually to St. Jude on behalf of the reigning champion for the next three years.
In addition to the donation, FedEx also dedicated a Cessna cargo plane in its fleet to Tyler West, a 9-year-old St. Jude patient who is being treated for acute lymphoblastic leukemia.
