An organization that aids animals owned by low-income and elderly residents in the Omaha, Neb. area was rocked last week when it learned that someone had stolen 2,500 pounds of pet food.
Homeward Bound in the Heartland Animal Rescue Inc. reported a burglary of a storage unit it rents near Fifth and Pacific streets. Joni Cisney, who runs the nonprofit group with her husband, said she was “just absolutely devastated” by the theft.
