When fundraising isn’t going well, the budget is in jeopardy and a nonprofit needs a miracle, the conversations seem to start the same way. “Our organization needs to raise a lot of money, more than we’ve ever raised before, and as soon as possible. Can you help?” Over the years I’ve received far too many of these calls.
Although I wish they would call sooner, I applaud nonprofits who ask for help. I’m glad they call because it’s the first step toward solving the problem. At the same time, my heart sinks because I know how difficult it will be to turn the ship around and keep it from sinking.
