Cole Hamels and his wife Heidi are donating more than money to charity this year.
The couple donated a mansion and 100 acres of land in southwest Missouri to Camp Barnabas, a charity that provides camps for children with special needs and chronic illnesses.
Hamels and his wife donated the 32,000-square-foot home to Camp Barnabas Friday. The house was listed for $9,418,400 at the time the two decided to give their home to the charity, according to Realtor.com.
In a news release, the Rangers pitcher said Camp Barnabas "pulled on the heartstrings" of him and his wife.
"Seeing the faces, hearing the laughter, reading the stories of the kids they serve; there is truly nothing like it," Hamels said in the statement. "Barnabas makes dreams come true, and we felt called to help them in a big way."
