Facebook chief operating officer Sheryl Sandberg just made her second $100 million charitable donation in less than a year.
At the end of July, Sandberg donated 590,000 Facebook shares worth nearly $100 million to the Sheryl Sandberg & David Goldberg Family Fund, a philanthropic fund at Fidelity Charitable, according to a regulatory filing released on Thursday. This donation follows a similar donation in December 2016, in which Sandberg gave 880,000 Facebook shares (then worth $110 million) to the same fund. The fund is called a donor-advised fund, which is a charitable account that allows donors to receive an immediate tax benefit and disperse the money to charities at a later date. Sandberg now owns a 0.13 percent stake in Facebook.
