There are big plans for a plot of land just off Route 5 in the Montgomery County, New York town of Fonda. It is the future home of the Tribes Hill Heritage Center. A board of directors has been working to make the Native American Center a reality for more than a year now and it's hoping to break ground in October. The center recently was awarded its charter by the state of New York and its official designation as a nonprofit organization.
As the board was working to create a website, social media accounts and a donation portal, it discovered someone already was soliciting donations in its name.
