Since its launch in 2008, the 30,000-square foot Grammy Museum in downtown Los Angeles has provided not only an entertaining look at the enduring legacy of music (one of Michael Jackson's sequined gloves is prominently on display), but also serves as an educational tool, teaching thousands of schoolkids each year about the history and social significance of music.
Behind the scenes, the Recording Academy’s Grammy Foundation has quietly also done its part to preserve music and ensure its educational future through grant giving. Established in 1988, the Grammy Foundation, also based in Los Angeles, has given away more than $1 million in grants since 2010 alone to more than 600 schools.
