Michigan State University Capital Campaign Tops $1 Billion

Michigan State University’s Empower Extraordinary capital campaign has raised more than $1 billion.

As of Sept. 1, MSU has received $1.012 billion from more than 221,000 donors, MSU Board of Trustee members learned during their meeting Friday. MSU launched the public portion of the campaign last fall, after raising more than $780 million from donors during the silent phase, which began in 2011.

The money will be used to double the number of endowed faculty professorships and chair positions to 200, as well as add hundreds of new scholarships and endowments for students. The campaign also aims to raise $450 million for expanding and enhancing facilities.
