A Michigan woman leveraged her longtime Twitter username—@DietDrPepper—to coax a $5,000 donation from the soft drink's parent company to help Flint residents.
Diana Hussein, 29, snagged the coveted Twitter handle in 2009, accumulating thousands of tweets on sports and cats before offering it to the soda manufacturer in 2013, she told the Detroit Free Press.
At the time of her proposal, the company already had @DrPepper in its arsenal of social media and Hussein said a representative failed to consider her offer until the thick of Flint’s water crisis in January.
