As you know, Nationals closer Jonathan Papelbon and outfielder Bryce Harper got into an altercation in the dugout Sunday, apparently because Harper didn't run out a pop-up. It was an ugly scene.
Nationals fans are not too happy Papelbon literally choked their franchise player (weirdly, non-Nationals fans seem to be on Papelbon's side) so much so that they are pledging to donate thousands of dollars to charity if the team releases him.
Of course, releasing Papelbon is not that simple. To get Papelbon to waive his no-trade clause at the deadline, the Nationals agreed to turn his $13 million option for 2016 into an $11 million guaranteed salary.
