Rutgers University raises record $137 million in private donations

Thanks in part to an anonymous $27 million gift — the largest in the university’s history — Rutgers raised a record $137.4 million in private donations during the 2010-11 academic year, the school announced Wednesday.

More than 90 percent of the year’s fundraising will support academic programs and other initiatives that directly benefit students, President Richard L. McCormick said in a press release issued by the Rutgers University Foundation.
