The Pittsburgh Foundation Raises $1M in Record 4 Hours

The Pittsburgh Foundation raised more than $1 million to fight homelessness Tuesday in record time—four hours.

This week marks the foundation's third Critical Needs Alert fundraising campaign. The focus is on solutions to addressing homelessness and housing insecurity. The online donation portal PittsburghGives.org opened at 8 a.m.

By noon, more than 1,200 individual donors had contributed more than $500,000, the foundation reported.

“This record public rally around the issue of homelessness is truly inspiring, and it demonstrates the neighbor-to-neighbor philanthropy that defines our community,” said Max King, CEO and president of The Pittsburgh Foundation.

The foundation had set aside a match pool of up to $500,000, bringing the total to more than $1 million with two days left in the campaign. The online giving portal closes at 8 a.m. Friday.
