The University of Southern California doesn’t want Harvey Weinstein’s money.
School officials said Tuesday that they had rejected a $5 million endowment from the media mogul to grant scholarships to female directors in the wake of his sexual harassment scandal.
“The USC School of Cinematic Arts will not proceed with Mr. Weinstein’s pledge to fund a $5M endowment for women filmmakers,” the university explained in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter.
The decision came not long after a Change.org petition was launched in an effort to stop USC from accepting Weinstein’s “blood money.”
