David Pena, Jr.
Vice President, Strategic Partnerships
Association of Latino Professionals for America
David grew up as a migrant farm worker, which posed many obstacles throughout his life. But receiving an academic scholarship opened up invaluable opportunities for him.
His professional accomplishments varied as his career—he was a candidate for political office by the age of 23; began his career in the insurance industry; transitioned from a business owner, to a lobbyist, to a nonprofit executive. His personal experience shaped the professional he has become and how he dedicates himself to creating pathways and opportunities for young men and women across the country. For 20 years, he has worked with a number of nonprofits developing new programs, partnerships and pathways for individuals who have experiences plenty of obstacles through their lives. He has mentored, supported and counseled hundreds of students; young would-be entrepreneurs; future dentists, lawyers, realtors, educators; and business men and women.
“His civic involvement is as diverse as his work history. He has actively served on multiple community boards and committees that include the full spectrum of cultural, service, business and health organizations that serve the general public, the Asian, Hispanic and LGBT communities.”
