The use of artificial intelligence (AI) and other automation tools has swiftly increased over the past several years. With AI working its way into all parts of our lives, it will prove to be a helpful resource in the nonprofit sector.
“Fundraisers need to be familiar with AI tools to stay competitive and to ensure that their organizations stay relevant in the digital age,” Julia Campbell, host of Nonprofit Nation Podcast, said via email.
Campbell and other professionals in the nonprofit industry will be sharing their insights on the technology that is at play in the sector at BridgeTECH during the 19th annual Bridge to Integrated Marketing & Fundraising Conference, hosted July 31 through Aug. 2 in National Harbor, Maryland.
Here are three ways your nonprofit can leverage AI to propel your organization’s digital fundraising into the future.
1. Analyze Donor Data
Analyzing data can take a lot of time, but automation can help alleviate some of the work.
“By leveraging AI-powered tools, fundraisers can … analyze vast amounts of data to identify patterns, predict future giving behavior and personalize outreach for improved engagement and conversion rates,” Shawn Olds, co-CEO and co-founder of boodleAI said via email.
Alongside co-presenter Colony Brown, chief marketing officer at Zero Prostate Cancer, Olds will share how fundraisers can use AI to supplement their fundraising strategies in the BridgeTECH session entitled “The Fundraiser's Guide to Collaborating With Generative AI.”
2. Automate Mundane Tasks
There are many mission-critical tasks that are, well, boring. Regardless, things like research and editing fundraising appeals must be done. This is a good place for AI to lend a helping hand.
“By automating mundane and repetitive tasks, AI allows fundraisers to focus more on the innovative and imaginative aspects of their work,” Campbell said.
Campbell and co-presenter Josh Hirsch, senior strategist at Soukup Strategic Solutions, will dive into more details on how AI has changed the face of content creation for nonprofits at the session entitled “How Fundraisers Can Save Time and Spur Creativity With AI-Driven Content.”
3. Enhance the Donor Experience
How people interact with your nonprofit is key to whether they’ll become a donor or make another gift — or decide not to.
With automation, Olds explained, fundraisers can “identify the most promising prospects and tailor communications accordingly.” It also enables them to provide around-the-clock support to donors via chatbots and virtual assistants.
Olds and Brown will talk more in depth about this in their BridgeTECH session.
“By exploring these applications and integrating them into their fundraising strategies, nonprofits can harness the power of Gen AI to drive more effective and efficient campaigns, ultimately increasing their impact on the communities they serve,” Olds said.
