Simply Super! Announcing the winners of the 2010 Fundraising Professionals of the Year Awards!
It's been said that not all superheroes wear capes. Some wear suits or scrubs; others wear badges or combat boots. Still others wear the unmistakable markings of 2 a.m. feedings, last-minute school projects and back-to-back soccer games/ballet recitals.
Yup, heroes come in all shapes and sizes, and they do all kinds of jobs. Our Fundraising Professionals of the Year Awards program is an effort to call out and honor some of those heroes who have dedicated their careers and, in some cases, their lives to raising money to help nonprofit organizations do their invaluable work.
Unlike comic-book superheroes, fundraisers rarely don a cape and emerge from a phone booth (do those even exist anymore?) to streak across the sky and come to the aid of a damsel in distress or a town on the brink of destruction. Fundraisers stay mainly behind the scenes and do what needs to be done to keep the money flowing from donors and other funding sources to the programs and people who are out there in the trenches.
As always, it was incredibly easy to choose our winners but incredibly difficult to not choose all of the others. That's because everyone who was nominated, no matter in which category, was so worthy of recognition. Each year, this competition is a powerful reminder of the kind of passion and dedication that exists in the nonprofit world. It's always very uplifting and humbling.
On behalf of the staff of FundRaising Success, congratulations to all of our winners — and thank you to everyone who was nominated, to those who made the nominations and to each of our readers. I know I sound like a broken record when I say this, but I have to say it again — what you do matters, and the world is a better place because of you.
