(Press release, May 19, 2014) — APRA is pleased to announce the recipients of its 2014 awards. Winners will be recognized at Prospect Development 2014, APRA's 27th Annual International Conference in Las Vegas.
APRA awards recognize members' accomplishments in the field, volunteer service and mentorship of others. Winners are peer-nominated and chosen by a committee of APRA members.
The 2014 winners are:
- APRA Scholarship: Durba Chatterjee, Associate Director of Advancement Services, Spelman College. This award is based on merit and institutional financial need and covers the costs of conference registration, accommodation and travel expenses.
- APRA Distinguished Service Award: Devon Villa Gessert, Director, Research and Prospect Management, American University. This award honors an individual who has enhanced both the advancement research profession and APRA through exceptional contributions beyond his/her daily paid work.
- The APRA Professional of the Year Award: Brock Silvey, Manager, Prospect Management, Northwestern University. This award recognizes an outstanding fundraising professional who has made a significant positive impact on his or her organization's success in fulfilling its mission.
- APRA Foundation Margaret Fuhry Grant: Barron Cato, Senior Research Strategist, University of Washington. The Margaret Fuhry Grant is given to a researcher based on his or her leadership, mentorship, volunteerism and dedication to the profession.
