Author Joel Comm Hosts First-Ever Live Broadcast Tweet-a-Thon to Raise Funds for WaterIsLife.com
SAN FRANCISCO, Feb. 17, 2009 — For the first time ever, Internet users around the world are invited to participate in Joel Comm’s Live Twitter Power Tweet-a-Thon 2009 on Thursday, February 19, 2009 from 12 noon to 12 midnight (EST). Donations through the Tweet-a-Thon will be raised for WaterIsLife.com, a project of Hearts and Hands International, a non-profit organization that provides clean water solutions to those in developing nations. The Tweet-a-Thon will be broadcast from the official site.
Hosted by the author of TWITTER POWER: How to Dominate Your Market One Tweet at a Time (Wiley, 2009), this special event will feature some of the biggest names in the social media world, including technical evangelist Robert Scoble, Grammy-award winning musician MC Hammer, Star Trek: The Next Generation’s Will Wheaton, WineLibrary.tv host Gary Vaynerchuk, Lockergnome.com’s Chris Pirillo, best-selling author Mark Joyner, Heroes television star David Lawrence, and social media expert Chris Brogan.
Twitter has brought about remarkable changes to the way people interact, do business, and affect change. The barely three-year-old site, which allows users to broadcast their status to followers in 140 characters or less, grew by 752% in 2008, measuring over 6 million users. On February 19, the power of Twitter will finally be proven.
“With the release of Twitter Power, businesses everywhere will have the information they need to harness the power of this micro-blogging site,” says Comm. “The Tweet-a-thon will demonstrate how influential social media can be to affect positive change in our world.”
Ken Surritte, CEO of WaterIsLife.com, will discuss the need for clean drinking water for one-half of the world’s population, and how the water purification straw provides an affordable solution that can provide clean drinking water for one year.
