BoardWalk Consulting Announces Leadership Stimulus Grants and Honors Nonprofit Leaders
February 9, 2009 — BoardWalk Consulting, dedicated to advancing nonprofit leadership, announced new Leadership Stimulus Grants at its annual event tonight. The firm hosted 250 business, nonprofit and public sector leaders for a celebration of philanthropic leadership.
“Responding to the challenges of the times, BoardWalk is pleased to announce three BoardWalk Leadership Stimulus Grants. At a time when many donors and sponsors are limiting their support, we are increasing our firm’s investment in the sector,” said Sam Pettway, founder of BoardWalk Consulting.
Each of the Leadership Stimulus Grants will cover one-half the cost of a material leadership project – an executive search, a board enrichment project, or a strategic or organizational planning exercise. The deadline for applying for the grants is February 27, 2009. The grants will be awarded in early March, with work to begin immediately thereafter. Nonprofits can apply online at www.boardwalkconsulting.com.
BoardWalk also honored two outstanding nonprofit leaders. “In times like these, the vibrancy, collegiality and commitment within our nonprofit community represent a powerful beacon for the future,” said Pettway. “We gather tonight to thank clients, friends and community leaders, whose commitment to nonprofit leadership keeps our sector strong. We are proud to honor two very special leaders for above-and-beyond contributions. ”
Bill Bolling received the Beacon of Light award, for bringing hope and opportunity to the community for 30 years as founder and Executive Director of the Atlanta Community Food Bank. He is a nationally known expert on hunger, poverty, affordable housing and policy reform.
