Bayley has been honored numerous times for his noteworthy philanthropic endeavors, including the Distinguished Hoosier Award bestowed by Governor Frank O’Bannon in 2001, the Sagamore of the Wabash bestowed by Governor Evan Bayh in 1994 and, along with his wife of more than 50 years, Dianne Bayley, the Spirit of Service Award from the Archdiocese of Indianapolis in 2001, which is the Archdiocese’s highest recognition for lay leaders. He and Dianne also received St. Vincent Hospital’s 2002 St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Award, the hospital’s highest honor awarded to those who demonstrate exceptional qualities in service to the poor, reverence, integrity, wisdom, creativity and dedication.
