Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) International recently released its Practice Exam, a Web-based tool to help fundraisers prepare for the CFRE exam. According to CFRE, the questions in the practice exam are written in a “similar style and degree of difficulty to those contained in the CFRE exam.”
In an interview with NonProfit PRO, Jeff Stanger, CFRE Education Resources Manager, explained that people learn in different ways and that the practice exam is another way for people to learn.
“In order to prepare for the CFRE exam, some people are going to prefer more book studies, some are going to prefer a group environment and some people like to study on their own, so there are a lot of different ways. But some people wanted a taste of what they are going to experience when they go to take the exam, and this is going to give that to them.” — Stanger
The online tool gives users the opportunity to the full 100-question exam or short 10-question exams in the following six categories: current and prospective donor research; securing the gift; relationship-building; volunteer involvement; leadership and management; and ethics, accountability and professionalism.
The format of the questions are similar style to the real CFRE exam, so users will have a sense of comfort and will know what to expect when it comes time to take the exam, Stanger noted.
“With the format that we’ve created, you can take a practice exam before you start it, get a sense of where are strengths are and where your weaknesses are and then retake it at the end of that month and get a sense of how you progress in that amount of time.” — Stanger
Those who are interested can access the online tool through the CFRE website via subscription. For $59.95, users will have unlimited access to the practice exam for 30 days. If the user wants to extend his or her access period, they can subscribe to the practice exam for 90 days for $99.95.
