Change is hard. Or so everyone says. So it must be true.
I disagree. Oh, don't get me wrong. When I bought a laptop for my 7-year-old son this past holiday and realized Windows 8 was not actually the same as Windows 7, I outright had a hissy-fit-panic-conniption-attack.
But then a quote from Irish playwright George Bernard Shaw comes to mind, "Progress is impossible without change, and those who cannot change their minds cannot change anything." And for me, that's one of the roots of life. Change equals opportunity. And with opportunity, great things are possible.
That's why FundRaising Success had to become NonProfit PRO. Read the quote again. Now read this by Russian novelist Leo Tolstoy, "Everyone thinks of changing the world, but no one thinks of changing himself."
"How can we better help nonprofit organizations make a difference?" we asked ourselves. "What do we do that needs to change?" We hear the buzz about change within nonprofit organizations, the efforts to break down silos and lead better, how difficult that change from within is … and then we realized — WE needed to change! For all the reasons Joe listed in his Editor's Note on page 3. And because at our core, we believe if we can help get you the relevant information you need to lead better, our progress just might help you change the world a little for the better.
This was also a career (wait for it …) opportunity for me. I was beyond flattered when asked to help lead NPPRO. Publishing is new to me. But the nonprofit sector is not. I look forward to many years of mind-changing leadership work with all of you.
And for the record? Windows 8 is pretty cool.
