April 12, 2009, Financial Times — The pain from the financial crisis has been evenly spread around, but charities have been hit from a number of directions.
Income from fundraising has dropped off, charity shops are selling less and corporate donors have pulled in their reins. While the number of bequests has not fallen, these mostly come in the form of property so charities are either not able to sell them or their value has fallen massively.
