Cozen O’Connor Recognized as Top Charitable Contributor
PHILADELPHIA, May 15, 2009 — Cozen O’Connor was recently honored for top charitable contributions in all four award categories at the Philadelphia Business Journal's annual Corporate Philanthropy Summit. The firm’s activities were recognized in the large company category.
Ranked 13th overall in charitable contributions in the region (out of 65-plus companies), the law firm earned the cornerstone Community Impact Award, honoring the region’s most philanthropic companies that have a widespread giving mission including significant cash, volunteer and in-kind contributions.
A finalist in both the Top Philanthropic Donor and Top In-Kind Donor categories, the latter for its commitment to pro bono work, Cozen O’Connor dedicated nearly $1.7 million in total local giving in fiscal year 2007. The Philadelphia Business Journal also recognized the firm as a top achiever in the Volunteer Donor category for its contribution of 5,000 community volunteer hours the same year to such organizations as the Police Athletic League, Alex’s Lemonade Stand, the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, Variety – The Children’s Charity, and The American Red Cross Blood Services, Penn-Jersey Region’s blood drive.
According to Harmon Spolan, chair of the Cozen O’Connor Foundation which oversees the firm’s charitable giving, “This passion for community service has been at the very core of our firm since it was founded nearly four decades ago.
