Cybersecurity Experts to Deliver Keynote at NonProfit PRO Emerging Tech & Growth Conference
Earlier this year, a pair of nonprofits were hacked by Islamic State sympathizers. Giving Children Hope and The Red Barn, both Christian organizations, experienced site outages and had pro-ISIS messages posted to their websites. Ultimately, both nonprofits would recover with little lasting damage, but it was a chilling reminder that no one, not even small, low-profile organizations, is invulnerable to cyber attack.
The scariest part? It can be so much worse. What if hackers do more than mess with your website—what if they access confidential information about your organization, obtain sensitive information about your donors, wipe out your databases or plant malware? It's a real possibility, and you've got to be prepared.
That's why Dr. Jane A. LeClair, chief operating officer for the National Cybersecurity Institute (NCI) at Excelsior College in Washington, D.C., and Lisa A. Lori, partner at Klehr Harrison Harvey Branzburg LLP’s litigation and intellectual property practice groups, are co-headlining the NonProfit PRO Emerging Tech & Growth Conference. The pair has an extensive combined background in cybersecurity, and will share their expertise in a joint, hour-and-a-half keynote session to kick off the conference. In it, LeClair and Lori will cover cybersecurity best-practices from a technical and legal perspective, providing valuable information on:
- Assessing your nonprofit's risk-factor for cyber attack
- Developing a plan in case of a breach
- The behavior you should expect from your most senior executive staff
- How to train volunteers to prevent accidental data loss
- Preparing for and dealing with the legal repercussions of an attack
- And much more
So, join us at the NonProfit PRO Emerging Tech & Growth Conference, July 21 at WHYY in Philadelphia, to catch this presentation and more from a host of other great speakers. In addition to cybersecurity, we'll cover topics such as optimizing your databases for better omnichannel marketing, and assessing your tech needs and implementing the latest technology.
