DiCicco, Gulman & Company Offers Pro Bono Assistance for Nonprofit Organizations
WOBURN, Mass., June 8, 2009 — DiCicco, Gulman & Company LLP (DGC), a CPA and business consulting firm specializing in the accounting and financial matters of private companies, is proud to announce the launch of a pro-bono program that will provide local nonprofit organizations with project support related to their accounting and financial service needs.
Massachusetts is the first state in the nation to officially celebrate Nonprofit Awareness Day in honor of the work of nonprofit organizations with support from the Governor and the Massachusetts Nonprofit Network (MNN). Formed in 2005, MNN is focused on strengthening Massachusetts through nonprofit advocacy. As a member of the MNN, DGC is committed to showing its support for nonprofit organizations by giving back through accounting services and counsel.
By offering pro-bono assistance with accounting related projects such as budgets, forecasting, internal control policies and procedures, as well as reviewing trial balances for efficiency, DGC is able to uniquely give back to the non-profit community with the same quality of experience they provide for each of their clients.
“In this economy, non-profits are in greater need of assistance from socially aware companies,” said Jordan Jones, Community Connector and Manager of Marketing for Building Impact, a non-profit organization taking a building-centric approach to increase civic engagement. “By partnering with the owners of buildings where people work and live, just as National Development offers at our building in Woburn, Building Impact brings community involvement to the people. Over the past year and a half, DGC has proven its commitment to giving back through many events they have worked on with us, including clothing drives in their lobby and volunteering at Cradles to Crayons. It makes perfect sense that they would take their philanthropic efforts to the next level by sharing their resources and talents with the nonprofit community.”
DGC employees have already begun sharing the benefits of the pro-bono program with their favorite organizations by beginning projects focusing on developing membership databases, setting-up a nonprofit accounting systems and developing proforma financial statements.
“DGC has always been a socially conscious firm and this new program allows us to become more involved in the community while also utilizing our expertise,” said Cheryl Burke, Chief Operating Officer at DGC. “We are thrilled to share our talents with organizations that may otherwise be at a loss, particularly in today’s economy, when it comes to accounting and financial service advising.”
DGC is currently accepting requests for assistance from organizations that are able to take advantage of this program. If you would like to submit a formal request, please contact Cheryl Burke or Kathy Charles at 781-937-5300.
