When Connecticut-based nonprofit Homes with Hope received a $1,500 donation on Nov. 11, 2021, they were thrilled. Providing emergency shelter, supportive and rapid re-housing alongside diversion services, food, and youth development programs for the people of Fairfield County has been challenging over the past two years.
What Homes with Hope couldn’t know is this generous gift was the $1 billion transaction for fundraising platform Donorbox.
“Homes with Hope is so happy that this large number was marked with a donation to our organization! Thank you for your support over the years.” said Helen McAlinden, president and CEO, noting that the ‘turning point’ was a real cause for celebration, and it is, for Donorbox and the many nonprofits using their online fundraising tools.
Donorbox launched in 2014 with one key mission: to provide nonprofits like Homes with Hope with simple, effective tools to manage their fundraising activities and connect with donors on a deeper level. Underlying this was the goal of democratizing access to fundraising technology for nonprofit organizations globally.
Today Donorbox processes a donation every 5 seconds, connecting millions of donors to thousands of nonprofits in more than 96 countries, underlining the authenticity of their commitment to developing affordable, simple solutions for all nonprofit communities.
Donorbox’s customer-centric ethos has removed technology barriers for nonprofits, irrespective of size. Affordable services have opened up online fundraising opportunities for over 50,000 nonprofits, from 1-person start-ups to global organizations, connecting them to 4.8 million donors. The spectrum of services, and geographical spread, of nonprofits using Donobox’s platform, is as diverse as the needs they meet.
From groundbreaking work advancing the role of women of color in technology done by California-based Black Girls Code, to Feed My Sheep Today, an Indiana nonprofit providing humanitarian relief to India, Pakistan, Kenya, or the evangelical message of Word on Fire reaching out into the world -- each is powered by Donorbox.
With its team spread across 10 countries, Donorbox understands the importance and impact of people from all around the world coming together for a greater cause. While it is this people-first partnering approach that underpins their success in keeping their software affordable for nonprofits, it is also the interaction of a vibrant, well-resourced knowledge community that hones the development and product approach, always focused on optimization and efficiency.
Nonprofits are not created equal, and neither are the tech companies that provide the platforms that support this billion-dollar sector. Unlike many tech companies, Donorbox is 100% self-funded and entirely focused on keeping its software, including premium features, affordable for nonprofits driving positive social change in the world. Continuously developing new products, tools, and integration solutions keep their clients on the leading edge of a highly competitive fundraising reality, and Donorbox in the top 4 preferred providers.
Charles Zhang, the CEO and Founder of Donorbox said, “Passing the $1 billion milestone is an exciting achievement, and even more so that it comes at such a challenging time. It has been a tough year for charities, it’s so encouraging to see how organizations like Homes with Hope, Black Girls Code, and so many other innovative nonprofits have not only survived but thrived."
Zhang added, “We’re continuously learning from the social impact of entrepreneurs to help them operate as effectively as possible. Our vision is to connect and grow, to bring positive impact to society by aiding philanthropists to drive social change and to remove the technology barriers for nonprofits - irrespective of size.”
It is undoubtedly the ‘keep it simple’ approach applied to products, user interface, and app integrations that makes Donorbox so appealing to nonprofits. Available in 11 languages and currencies, the core multi-step donation form is simple, yet flexible and intuitive for nonprofits and donors to set up, customize, embed, and manage. Multiple secure payment methods place Donorbox in the same class as regular fundraising software but easily scheduled, and managed, recurring donations are the hero of this product offering. When you add that to the lowest conversion fee in the market, it is clear why over 50,000 nonprofit organizations trust Donorbox as their partner in making the world a better place.
