Firstgiving Runners Help Raise $1.9 Million for Charities in the 2009 Boston Marathon

Preliminary analysis further shows that in 2009, almost 28,000 Firstgiving donors gave their friends, co-workers and family an average of about $70 as they ran in the Boston Marathon, $15 more than the standard Firstgiving donation average. Out of the 844 runners, the average amount raised was $2,282, and the top fundraising runner brought in over $20,000.
