In response, the Food Bank and City Harvest are increasing their efforts by exceeding their distribution goals for the current year. The Food Bank will distribute 12% more food than projected and City Harvest will increase its rescue and distribution efforts by 13%. This year, the Food Bank will provide 58 million pounds of food and City Harvest will distribute 26 million pounds. Over 1200 soup kitchens, food pantries and other charitable food providers will receive this food and provide it directly to people in need.
