GivingTuesday, a global generosity movement, announced the launch of its Europe Hub to help promote generosity and philanthropy across the region.
Building on the success of GivingTuesday’s existing Hubs, the Europe Hub was co-created with GivingTuesday country leaders across Europe as a way to promote collaboration, co-creation, and shared learning across countries in Europe. The Hub will support leadership and innovation across the movement’s existing network, and will provide a new platform and resource for partners across Europe to lead collaborative data work and to better inform and inspire the social sector in the region.
“The launch of the Europe Hub is another major milestone for GivingTuesday as we continue deepening our support for leaders in communities who are making positive social change and connecting them to our broader ecosystem. The Europe Hub will foster opportunities for increased collaboration, exploration, and innovation across the European social sector and beyond,” said Asha Curran, CEO of GivingTuesday. “As the sector continues to face immense challenges and seemingly unending crisis moments, our Global Hubs unite leaders across countries and causes through a shared mission to inspire more generosity, strengthen communities, and build a more resilient civil society.”
The Europe Hub joins the Latin America & the Caribbean, US & Canada, Africa, and India Hubs as localized GivingTuesday resources dedicated to fostering generosity, partnerships, and learning in priority regions.
The creation of GivingTuesday’s Europe Hub comes at a critical time for the social sector. According to the Nonprofit Pulse report from the European Fundraising Association and Salesforce, 28% of surveyed nonprofits saw an increase in demand for services, 28% experienced a decline in donations, and 26% reported a drop in individual supporters. These challenges underscore the need for coordinated efforts to support and sustain generosity, community care, and engagement across the continent.
Oliver Shiel, Senior Manager of Nonprofit Industry Field Marketing at Salesforce, said: “We have been supporting regional GivingTuesday leaders to expand the reach and growth of the movement over this side of the pond for over 6 years across numerous regions, and we are delighted to see this effort come to fruition with the launch of the GivingTuesday European Hub. We look forward to the continued momentum and for even more nonprofits to make more of this giving movement in 2024 and beyond.”
