The deadline for the 10th annual NonProfit PRO Gold Awards for Fundraising Excellence is getting closer, so it’s a good time to consider a true powerhouse package honored in 2007, from the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
This Gold Award Grand Control winner (in the mail for three years or more) stood out due to its longevity—it had been mailed since 2003—as well as the personal experience at the heart of the campaign.
The letter recounts the story of Eloise, a little girl undergoing chemotherapy for her cancer, who wanted nothing more than to feel like a princess.
Her father’s appeal to the group, known for granting children’s wishes, still sways today: a version of this package, complete with personalized name and address labels and a notepad, has been mailed well into 2015.
