With the deadline for the NonProfit PRO Gold Awards now less than two weeks away, think about the simplicity of one 2010 winner from the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation.
The “3 Cent Bank” package, submitted by CDR Fundraising Group, at first glance looks like a typical direct-mail package that includes coins. The recipient sees the coins showing through the outer window, and feeling some guilt, sends them back in as directed, along with a donation … right?
No, not really. Not this time. Here, a coin bank was provided as well. This gave the donor the option of saving the coins and using them later, when more coins were accumulated, to buy a holiday gift for a child. Or, the donor could contribute again right away. Maybe even do both.
Going up against the organization’s champion, long-term, control calendar package, this package beat it on several counts.
