GroundFloor Media Launches Series of Social Media Worskops
DENVER, Feb. 18, 2009 — GroundFloor Media, Inc., a Denver-based public relations agency, today announced the new GroundFloor Social Media (GFsM) workshop series aimed at helping Colorado-based associations, nonprofits and government entities leverage social media in their marketing and fundraising campaigns. Called “Social Media: Getting in on the Ground Floor,” the series will offer personalized social media training and education at no cost.
Offered throughout 2009, these half-day seminars will be taught by GroundFloor Media’s social media team and will include a customized training session tailored to meet each organization’s unique marketing, customer service and fundraising goals. Following the training, attendees will be able to confidently develop and execute a strategic social media campaign across a variety of Internet mediums.
Organizations interested in participating must submit an online application which is available at www.groundfloormedia.com. The workshops will be held at GroundFloor Media and are limited to 20 guests. The 2009 dates for the five free Social Media 101 sessions are as follows:
* Government (state, cities, counties) – March 31
* Hospitals/Healthcare – April 29
* Cultural Facilities – May 19
* Education – June 24
* Nonprofit (general) – July 29
“We developed our Social Media 101 workshop series to help educate organizations about the social media universe and provide them with a step-by-step guide on how to start and maintain their own social media campaigns,” said Ashley Cohen, senior public relations manager and a member of the GFsM team at GroundFloor Media. “In these sessions, our team of social media junkies will help attendees gain a basic understanding of the different social media mediums and learn how to engage customers, employees and supporters through social media.”
Since its inception in late 2007, the GFsM practice has provided clients, including Alta Colleges, America On the Move, The Children’s Hospital, Tennyson Center for Children, Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, Colorado Garden & Home Show, Morton’s The Steakhouse, SmartyPig and Qdoba Mexican Grill, a way to break through the noise in a strategic and innovative way that sets them apart from their competitors.
“Most nonprofits and government organizations realize that they need to leverage social media in order to further boost their marketing and fundraising campaigns. However, their limited budgets often make it difficult to try nontraditional campaigns,” added Cohen. “These workshops will provide these organizations with the knowledge and know-how to increase their social media presence.”
The emergence of social media has had a dramatic impact on the public relations industry. According to a trend report from Netpop Research LLC, there are 40 million active social network users in the U.S., and social networking has grown 93 percent since 2006.
