Look Good...Feel Better Launches Salon Awareness Campaign During National Breast Cancer Awareness Month
WASHINGTON, July 23, 2009 — Look Good. . .Feel Better, a national public service program created to help women cope with the appearance-related changes of cancer treatment, today announced a new in-salon awareness campaign with the National Cosmetology Association (NCA) to generate awareness and increase program participation during its 20th anniversary year. The beauty industry's flagship charity, Look Good. . .Feel Better is a collaboration of the Personal Care Products Council Foundation, the American Cancer Society, and the National Cosmetology Association.
The campaign targets more than 25,000 NCA members, who are professional cosmetologists, estheticians, and nail technicians, to raise awareness of the Look Good. . .Feel Better program, which includes free workshops for women and teens coping with cancer treatment, and provides information on skin care and make-up application, and advice on dealing with hair loss and nail care. NCA members can request free Look Good. . .Feel Better educational materials, including posters and point-of-purchase information for display and distribution in their salons during October. Orders are being accepted on the Look Good. . .Feel Better Web site at www.lookgoodfeelbetter.org until August 31, 2009.

Many of the 14,000 Look Good. . .Feel Better volunteers are NCA members. Across the nation, these talented beauty professionals generously dedicate their time to teach workshops that help women with cancer look good, improve their self-esteem and thereby manage their cancer treatment and recovery with greater confidence.
"By providing our members with these materials for use in their salons during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we can help share information about this important program during a time when people want to learn how they can help others undergoing cancer treatment," said Gordon Miller, executive director of the National Cosmetology Association.

Since it began in 1989, the program has helped 650,000 women with cancer look and feel better during their cancer treatment and recovery.
