August 28 2009, The News-Gazette — When a consultant told Dorothy Stoneman that other youth groups were competing for precious financial support with her East Harlem nonprofit, she took a different tack.
Instead, she saw them as allies and organized a citywide Youth Action Program to help high school dropouts learn construction skills, rebuild low-income communities and further their educations.
