So yes, nonprofits and for-profits are and always will be inherently different. But the more our society views social matters as an obligation for all — businesses included — the more the lines will continue to blur. And the more donors get accustomed to personalized, targeted communications from companies in all the channels in which they utilize and prefer as consumers, the more they'll expect nonprofits soliciting them for support, money and volunteering time to do the same.
