In November 2003, NonProfit PRO published its first issue. Of course, we went by Fundraising Success back then.
“FundRaising Success is looking forward to helping facilitate growth in your organizations,” the publication’s original editor-in-chief, Margaret Battistelli Gardner, said in the debut editor’s note. “It’s our sincere hope that you’ll join us, guide us, support us and, most importantly, use us in that capacity.”
Now, 20 years later, NonProfit PRO, which took on its current name in 2015, is celebrating a landmark anniversary.
“The brand change is consistent with the way in which nonprofits are embracing fundraising as a function of the entire organization, not just the development department,” the publication announced in a press release regarding the rebrand.
From our annual endeavors — including a 40 trends roundup, a leadership study and an elite hosted-buyer conference — to our daily e-newsletter and comprehensive coverage of the nonprofit sector, we’ve certainly come a long way.
“As we mark our 20th anniversary, I find myself reflecting on the incredible journey that has brought NonProfit PRO to this significant milestone,” Chris Lyons, president of NonProfit PRO, said. “Our success is a testament to our dedicated team, the unwavering support of our audience and advertisers, and our steadfast commitment to the nonprofit sector. Please join us in celebrating two decades of empowering nonprofits with cutting-edge innovations, advanced tactics and strategic insights to elevate their fundraising efforts and drive their noble missions forward.”
To celebrate the brand’s original debut in 2003, we spoke to two nonprofits that started in the same year as us to learn how they’ve been able to serve their mission as long as we’ve served the nonprofit sector, and share what other nonprofits can learn from their success.
