(Press release, Nov. 14, 2015) — Chairman of Orbital Charity Dynamics and long-serving managing director of its parent Orbital Marketing Services Group, Paul Markland, is stepping down after 42 years with the business. The 63-year-old will leave on Dec. 23.
The group is parent to Kent- and Northamptonshire-based Orbital Charity Dynamics, which provides a range of fulfillment and communications services to a number of well-known charities.
Markland joined the company at its inception, then based in Folkestone, in 1972 and had various customer service, sales and operational roles in its travel marketing services business before becoming general manager and then, in 1989, managing director. The company relocated to Ashford in 1991.
In 2001, he masterminded the formation of Orbital Marketing Services Group and took on a second role as its managing director. He has since directed Orbital's diversification into a multi-sector, multi-skilled group which included the formation of Orbital Charity Dynamics and now employs over 500 people across nine sites and 10 businesses.
"I'll be 64 next year so the time has come to slow down a bit," Markland said. "I'm proud of having been part of broadening our travel business into the successful Orbital Marketing Services Group. I've got a great team at Orbital and I'll be sad to leave them and company behind at the end of December, but it is time to enjoy some less-pressured days and new challenges whilst I still can!"
Orbital Marketing Services Group was acquired by Menzies Distribution in November 2012.
Markland's replacement is Robert Fallow, 55, who has operated at board level in sales, marketing and general management for FTSE 100 and privately owned companies throughout his career. He is currently managing director of Vets Now, and his previous roles include U.K. marketing director for Reebok, group director of marketing at Orange and managing director of Franklin Electronic Publishers.
