PayPal Employees Award $1.4M in Grants to Nonprofits Around the World
PayPal’s corporate social responsibility program provides employees with the opportunity to distribute grants to their local communities. This year, PayPal supported 75 organizations with a total of $1.4 million in grants.
Community Impact Teams, made up of more than 14,000 total PayPal employees at 41 locations globally, selected the recipients within the corporation’s focus areas of economic empowerment, financial health, environmental sustainability and social justice. Each recipient received a grant of up to $20,000. PayPal notes the initiative allows employees of all levels to become involved in corporate philanthropy decision-making while building company culture.
"Empowering employees to participate in a company's grant nomination and decision-making process helps increase equity and mitigate biases in grantmaking," Satonya Fair, J.D., president and CEO of PEAK Grantmaking, a national association of professionals and organizations, including PayPal, that advances grant management. PayPal's Community Impact Grants program is an excellent example of how this approach both improves workplace culture and produces better outcomes for communities."
