Peer-to-Peer World returns for a second year of virtual programming with sessions running Fridays from Sept. 10 to Oct. 8, starting at 9 a.m.
“This year’s conference on all things peer-to-peer fundraising is bigger and better than ever,” Mark Becker, founding partner of Cathexis Partners, said. “We’re going all out with a five-day conference. And since it is virtual, we’ve decided to make it five Fridays in a row instead of filling up your entire week. Attendees will not only attend informative sessions from industry experts, but also interact with their peers throughout the conference, run a virtual 5k and show off their own campaigns to their peers.”
Each Friday nonprofit industry experts will present on various peer-to-peer topics with nonprofits sharing their own successful campaign and event case studies. With more than 20 sessions scheduled over the course of the event, attendees can expect in-depth looks at various aspects of peer-to-peer fundraising. A few examples of scheduled sessions include:
- “Attract and Empower Megafans To Raise More for Your Mission” with Mark Rummel of Givebutter (and formerly at Trinity Habitat for Humanity in Fort Worth, Texas, which is the nonprofit’s third largest affiliate).
- “The Next Play With Peer-To-Peer: How the Miami Dolphins Cancer Challenge Is Driving Forward With Hybrid Fundraising Experiences” with Kelsey Stellman at Donordrive and Javier Sanchez from the Miami Dolphins
- “How Any Nonprofit Can Use a Mobile App for Instant Communication” with Ashley Maskel at Guardian Angel Basset Rescue and Mark Sutton from Letsalldogood.
As communicating with people becomes more challenging, Sutton noted it’s about finding people where they are, which is why his session will focus on a mobile app’s role in peer-to-peer events.
“It’s really around engaging participants on their phones leading up to, during and even after the event,” Sutton, who leads business development and partnerships for Letsalldogood, said in a recent podcast episode of NonProfit Voice. “... [Guardian Angel Basset Rescue is] going to talk about how they’re using the app this year to do things, like greet participants and volunteers as they enter the event area, communicate with people about what’s going on at the event, there’s a fundraising element to it and even how they add value to sponsors through an app at an event.”
Additionally, each Friday at 11:30 a.m. Becker will be joined by Julie Brock and Kari Bodell at Susan G. Komen, for a Peer-to-Peer Email Communications Workshop, covering everything from timing to execution and analytics.
“We started talking about how awesome would it be if we could actually do something that builds on itself over the multiple weeks,” Bodell, Susan G. Komen’s vice president of development program strategy, said of her and Becker’s thought process on the workshop series in a recent podcast episode of NonProfit Voice. “And so [in] each of the sessions, we will be doing some theory, some philosophy, but then really quickly talking to 'How does this happen?’ and ‘How does this all really come to life when you’re busy and things are happening, and sometimes you don’t know what’s going to move the needle so you need to respond quickly?' And we’re going to get real really quickly.”
The speaker sessions will be broken up with fun virtual aspects, like a 5K run and walk breaks led by Charge Running’s Julie Wallock and team trivia led by Qgiv and Fun Team Events.
