PurchasingPoint Launches New Portal for Nonprofits to Access Vendor Discounts Online
(Press release, Feb. 6, 2015) — PurchasingPoint®, the only group purchasing organization (GPO) in the nonprofit marketplace that serves the needs of national human service nonprofits and their affiliates, as well as other foundations and associations, launched a new portal that facilitates member access to discounts on essential products and services from more than 200 national vendors. The program offers members aggregate savings of 33 percent annually.
PurchasingPoint is a wholly owned and operated subsidiary of the National Human Services Assembly, which estimates that large human services nonprofits in the U.S. spend, on average, 37 percent of their revenue every year on non-programmatic, non-personnel overhead. PurchasingPoint provides a centralized location for members to purchase goods and services at a discount, with some discounts exceeding 50 percent.
PurchasingPoint CEO Irv Katz said, “Our 10-year-old program is backed by AdvantageTrust, a leading GPO with an annual combined buying power of $24 billion, which it uses to negotiate pricing on everything from office supplies to copiers to furniture. This gives our members access to prices so low they are usually reserved for Fortune 100 companies.”
He added, “Cost savings on overhead frees up funds that can go toward an agency’s mission. All of the available discounts through PurchasingPoint are based on contracts that are already well-researched and negotiated and aimed at saving organizations money, time and countless labor hours of negotiation. More significant is the collective purchasing power of AdvantageTrust and its parent company, HealthTrust Purchasing Group. No single nonprofit can command the discounts commensurate with that kind of volume.”
Some key enhancements of the PurchasingPoint portal include:
- Access to multiple vendors in one simple step
- Advanced keyword search for products, services, and vendors
- A detailed FAQ that answers questions members may have about the program
- An enhanced program description and benefits detail
- Information on the program’s vendors and the discounts they offer
- Access to quick and easy online registration for new facilities or users
