Last week, Promo Marketing reported on the interesting items presidential hopeful Rand Paul had on his campaign site. Ray-Ban sunglasses will no longer be one of them, as the popular eyewear company has asked Sen. Paul to stop selling branded Ray-Ban Wayfarer sunglasses.
The glasses were available on Sen. Paul's website for $150, and featured the "Rand" imprint on the side of the glasses. According to The Hill, the Rand Paul campaign site described the item as "the intersection of politics and cool," and featured an image of former president John F. Kennedy wearing Ray-Ban Wayfarers next to a photo of Sen. Paul wearing a similar pair.
"We learned that the Rand Paul campaign had been selling Ray-Ban sunglasses imprinted with the 'Rand' logo without our consent," Jane Lehman, head of corporate communications for Ray-Ban's parent company, Luxottica, told The Hill. "After a formal request from us, they promptly removed the product from their site and agreed to cease any further use of our trademarks."
Other co-branded products are still available on Sen. Paul's website, such as Beats by Dre headphones and Safety Runner performance shirts with the "Rand" logo.
