"A shake-out is a common business cycle when companies are eliminated or acquired by their competition. What generally happens is that a new sector or market is identified as having the potential of great profit, so there is a stampede of entrepreneurs’ rushing in to take advantage of the opportunity. Invariably, too many organizations end up chasing too few customers. There simply aren’t enough customers to make each venture viable. So, in true Darwinian fashion, only the strongest survive.
