Softgiving, a financial tech company serving nonprofits, has partnered with Mississippi Public Broadcasting, the statewide NPR affiliate of Mississippi, to reinvent MPB’s well-known radio fundraising drive, “Make a Splash With Change.” According to a press release, MPB understood that it needed to reach the next generation of donors with technology.
With the help of Change by Softgiving, the fundraising drive secured nearly $25,000 in pledges in 24 hours for donations over the next year. With Softgiving’s technology, donors were able to go directly to a nonprofit’s website and link debit or credit cards. Once the debit or credit card was linked, donor purchases were rounded to the nearest dollar—and the extra change was sent to the nonprofit as a charitable donation. Donors have the option to set a maximum contribution per month.
“Many nonprofits are searching for the right mechanism to address changing donor demographics and payment preferences. Solutions like Change by Softgiving enable nonprofits to reach new donors by offering a passive, recurring giving option that make a difference one purchase at a time.” — Matt Pfaltzgraf, CEO and Founder of Softgiving
