November 10, 2009 — The Humane Society of the United States launched a new Web site Tuesday. The newly designed site leverages the power of video and stories to engage supporters in the organization’s work to protect animals.
Thanks to the streamlined design, visitors to humanesociety.org are able to learn about the wide range of ways The HSUS celebrates animals and confronts cruelty every day. It also provides readers with useful information such as tips on pet care and ways to live in harmony with wildlife.
“The new humanesociety.org emphasizes the animals who are the beneficiaries of our work,” said Geoff Handy, HSUS vice president of media and online communications. “This Web site better reflects the diverse ways in which The HSUS works to protect animals and also gives our supporters quick and easy ways to help effect positive change for animals.”
Every page of humanesociety.org highlights The HSUS’ major campaigns: animal fighting, factory farming, puppy mills, horse slaughter, fur, chimpanzee experiments, wildlife abuse, pet adoption and Canada’s cruel seal killing. It also allows users to sign up to receive email updates, donate to help animals, shop for branded merchandise or take action. The site also enables users to share content on their own social media pages like Facebook and Twitter.
Threespot Media designed the site, and it is hosted on the Convio platform.
The Humane Society of the United States is the nation’s largest animal protection organization — backed by 11 million Americans, or one of every 28. For more than a half-century, The HSUS has been fighting for the protection of all animals through advocacy, education and hands-on programs.
