"It seems a reporter attended the Fundraising Institute of Australia's national conference last week with the specific intention of writing about our behaviour when donors aren't around. He accused the fundraisers of 'meeting behind closed doors' — at a conference. Any laughter or sarcasm in the session on legacies was reported to be at the donor's expense. Moves management of donor relationships was put in quotation marks — the implication being that we are manipulative and unethical, paying outrageous sums of money (conference fees) so that we can secretly strategize how to rob old and dying people of their assets." Fewer sad dogs on TV mean more sad dogs in real life
"I'm assuming that helping get as many dogs as possible out of shelters and into homes is a goal of Westminster. If that's the case, then they traded away that goal in exchange for feeling better about what they aired on TV. They decided that the downer visual of sad dogs is a worse thing than the downer of real dogs not getting adopted. Better to feel good than do good." Click here to read the full post.
