Venmo Introduces New Features to Help Customers Spend Smarter this Holiday Season
This holiday season, Americans are experiencing the highest inflation in four decades. With the price of food, gas, and goods breaking records, Venmo has made improvements to the Venmo app to help customers spend smarter this holiday season. Customers can now find and donate to the charities they love directly through the Venmo app, and additionally customers will see a cleaner peer-to-peer (P2P) payment screen for sending money.
A New Way to Donate with Charities on Venmo
Giving back is at the heart of the holiday season, and with 98% of donors saying that they are planning to give to charity again this year, finding and discovering causes to contribute to is more important than ever. Recently, Venmo shared that charities could create a charity profile on Venmo to reach more of the Venmo community. Venmo is excited to add a way for Venmo customers to find a cause close to their heart or discover new charities to support this holiday season, and donate directly through the Venmo app.
Venmo customers can donate to charities in the app by browsing through a list of verified charities in their local community, look through trending charities, or browse by charity categories, like animals and pets, disaster relief, or education. Donations to charities can be made using a Venmo balance, linked bank account, debit card or credit card. In the coming weeks, it will also add a feature enabling Venmo customers to share a donation they have made with friends to inspire them to do the same.
Donating in the Venmo app can be done quickly and easily by following the steps below:
- Navigate to the search bar “People and Businesses” then select “Make a donation”
- Browse the “Find a Charity” page
- Select a PayPal confirmed charity to learn more about their cause
- Tap “Donate” in the middle of the screen
- Enter a donation amount and a note
- Share a donation to inspire friends (coming soon)
Finding charities in the Venmo app is available now to all Venmo customers with the latest version of the app.
Clearer and Easier ways to Send Money
Customers will see a new send money experience that makes it easier for customers to see exactly how much they are sending and to who.
Venmo has added profile pictures, letting customers see who they’re sending money to, and it's also increasing the font size of the dollar amounts. Plus, Venmo is making it easier to pay or request multiple payments at once – customers can tap the plus (+) button next to the first recipient’s profile picture, which will allow customers to scroll through a list and add multiple recipients to the transaction. Venmo will display the total amount to be sent or received as well as the amount for each person.
The updated Venmo app is available to all customers starting today. Make sure to download the latest version of the Venmo app on iOS or Android to experience the new app.
