The Wawa Foundation plans on hitting its goal of $50 million in donations by 2018, and it is well on its way. Since 2014, the foundation has donated over $33 million towards three areas: health, hunger and everyday heroes through grants and in-store fundraising. In 2016 alone, the foundation totaled $11.6 million in contributions.
Here’s what the company had to say regarding its national charity partners:
“Our national grants help ensure that our commitment to health, hunger and everyday heroes extends well beyond our local communities and regional footprint to provide the support needed to advance our focus areas at the national level.”
Its local charity partners:
“Our local grants ensure we are reaching organizations throughout Wawa’s footprint and providing help to advance our focus areas of health, hunger and everyday heroes while building stronger communities.”
And, of course, its local community sponsors:
“Our local sponsorships provide financial support for community fundraising events (e.g. charity walks) that benefit charities in our three areas of focus and bring members of the community together to help advance our mission.”
The successful franchise started the Wawa Foundation to honor its longstanding commitment to the communities that it serves. Wawa is making a big impact in the nonprofit sector in all the right ways. We all should take note and follow in its footsteps.
