Shining a spotlight on women executives, entrepreneurs and organizations run by women, the Stevie Awards for Women in Business announced the results of its 2011 competition Nov. 11.
Nonprofit winners include Lauren Bush, CEO of FEED, Best Executive (Nonprofit or Government); Dr. Lee Bowes, president/CEO of America Works of New York Inc., Lifetime Achievement; Elisabeth Mason, CEO of Single Stop USA, Best Executive; Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Nonprofit or Government Organization of the Year; Birds Nest Foundation, Video of the Year.
CDS Global announces that the company’s Global Marketing & Communications team has won 14 MarCom Awards in the 2011 international competition, which recognizes outstanding achievement by marketing and communications professionals, including a platinum award for a nonprofit-focused whitepaper titled "From Caging to Campaigns."
CDS Global was awarded five Platinum Awards, the event’s highest honor, as well as five Gold Awards and four Honorable Mentions for pieces ranging from multichannel marketing campaigns, marketing collateral pieces and print ads to print and electronic external newsletters, e-cards, white papers and pro bono work.
The Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) has bestowed the Barbara Marion Award for Outstanding Leadership to AFP, the association’s highest volunteer and leadership recognition, to Susan Earl Hosbach, CFRE, of Nashville, Tenn. Hosbach is currently the executive director and CEO of The Minnie Pearl Cancer Foundation and has been a member of AFP since 1994, serving in a variety of leadership positions and spearheading several important initiatives for the association.
The National Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC) will honor the work of U.S. Secretary of Labor Hilda Solis with the NGLCC/American Airlines ExtrAA Mile Award for her tireless commitment to promoting equal employment laws for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) people at the NGLCC National Dinner: An Evening of Courage on Nov. 18 in Washington, D.C.
In addition to Secretary Solis, NGLCC will honor select individuals and organizations for their courage and dedication to the LGBT business community.

This year’s International Fundraising Congress (IFC) saw the highest ever number of delegates through its doors, attracted by an outstanding programme of events and debates focused on the key issues facing fundraisers today and led by the sector’s most inspirational speakers. Nearly 1,000 delegates attended, taking advantage of the opportunity to learn from the best in the sector and to network with colleagues from all over the world.
The Association of Development Officers will host its 9th annual Philanthropy Awards Breakfast on Tuesday, Nov. 15, at Tappan Hill, in Tarrytown, N.Y. The breakfast honors those who have made a positive impact in the nonprofit community, either through their philanthropic efforts or their dedication to their mission in the roles of Philanthropist, Nonprofit Board Member, Corporate or Foundation, Professional Fundraiser, and Youth. The standing-room-only event draws a large representation of nonprofits and the organizations that support them.
Cox Communications, in partnership with The Trust for Public Land (TPL), launched Arizona's first annual Cox Conserves Heroes awards program. Two individuals will be recognized as Arizona's Cox Conserves Heroes, and a total of $14,000 will be donated to local environmental nonprofits.
The Cox Conserves Heroes program asks local residents to nominate volunteers in their community who help create, preserve or enhance outdoor places for everyone to enjoy. Eligible nominees cannot receive financial compensation for their conservation work.
The recipients of the 2011 Carnegie Medal of Philanthropy, which recognizes philanthropists who, like Andrew Carnegie, believe in dedicating their private wealth to the public good, were announced by Carnegie Corp. of New York. They are: the Crown Family; the Danforth Family; Fiona and Stanley Druckenmiller; Li Ka-shing; Fred Kavli; the Lauder Family: Evelyn and Leonard Lauder, Jo Carole and Ronald Lauder; Pamela and Pierre Omidyar; the Pew Family; and the Pritzker Family.
Known for his heroic character in three Transformers blockbusters, actor Josh Duhamel will be honored for his real-life heroism as a children’s advocate when he accepts the “Ribbon of Dreams” award during the 18th annual Dream Halloween® Los Angeles. Also receiving this year’s award will be philanthropist Jake Kloberdanz, Founder/CEO of the ONEHOPE Foundation and ONEHOPE Wine.
